I'm looking for some opinions on what fish make good tank mates for these guys. I've done a good amount of research; I'd just like to colour that with some views from people that have extensive experience of keeping them.

I wouldn't hesitate keeping anything with them even long finned fish like bettas or guppies (kept them with histies) they are lovely playful characters. Make sure to get at least 5-6 to see them at best.

I personally think Barbs or danio/rasbora species would be perfect socially and accurate geographically if thats what your going for.

Thanks. I've got 5 (because they were the last five in the shop) but I'm looking to add to that number, as soon as I can. They're sharing their tank with Black Ruby Barbs, Odessa Barbs and a group of Paradise Fish. So far, so good! Like you say: they really have playful characters, and spend most of their time playing in the current and loaching around on a big piece of Mopani.

Odessa barbs are from Myanmar like the Histrionica but i'm not sure if Black Rubies are, i think they are from India or Sri Lanka. (might be wrong though.)

How is the paradise fish doing with the Barbs? Have you got any pictures of your tank at all? It sounds a nice setup.

Just curious mate, do you still have your Pearl Gouramis?
