in my 30 Gallon tank i have a community setup including tetras, guppys, ballon mollies, sailfins, and plecostomus.
My small orange sailfin molly is constantly bothering my large balloon mollies rear end, and they are both male? He is constantly chasing the ballon mollies rear end for reasons i cannot seem to find on this forum or any other for that fact, any help?

Regards

I cant help but my white sailfin bothers all my balloon mollies

my male silver sailfin molly is always doing this, ive taken him out and put him in my 10g tank with my angelfish and all has calmed down now

other than taking him out i dont no any other way sorry......maybe add lots of hiding space for the other fish to hide when he gets a bit frisky

Dam, was really hopin for a solution on here :( but at least i know im not the only one. Wonder why they tend to do it, they dont bother the females, so what gives?

Thanks for your response people

if there are any females they're probably fighting for them. if there aren't, theyll usually fight too. there's no winning.

Just an idea...could your sailfin be mistaking your balloon molly for a preggers female? You know how the female molly gets very rounded when carrying fry? Well balloon mollies look a bit like that.

I know that male mollies usually chase the rear end of a pregnant female when she is near the time to release her fry. The male will knock against her side to try to hurry it along...he is after eating the fry...

Just a guess - other than that, no I don't know...

that's a possibility. males always have a reason to fight... but, are there any girls in your tank? (balloons or sailfins?)
