they are all in 1 tank, yeah they can get big I have had a 20inch Albino in the past, he was living with Sajicas that was 3inches .lol... some times you will get good fish some times you will get bad fish, the "WALKING CATFISH" will not eat these fish I have housed with them, they might fight (they might not?!) but a 24inch Clarias will not eat a big Oscar or any big Vieja SP.Oooo errr very nice![]()
Do you have them on there own? If not you do know that they will eat all of your fish when they get bigger these have the potentional to get to 24" and are eating machines.
Thanks younice clarias and some nice pics too, Whats the tank size?
im only going on the other 5 or 6 I have had but all of them was fine with things like Cichlids, sharks, other cats, barbs/pacu and arowanas..... some of the other Clarias I had like I say was 20inch..........A Clarius might not eat an oscar but they are well known for chewing the fins off fish if they can trap them in a corner, its your choice to mix them but theyre certainly not a fish i'd ever recomend for a mixed species tank.
Like it!> especially the Light coloured Pleco and your Oscar.
Btw; How big are your T'Foil Barbs? / Do they eat like hungry hippos? ....>Mine have almost doubled size in 2 months!
Hope they all get along.![]()
I know of two that have destroyed fishes fins over night by chewing them right back past the knuckle so they wont grow back, its not really aggression but just the constant desire to eat, they seem to be insatiable and need more and more food as they grow.
They are definately tough fish, my mates one (one that ate every fin off a 12" oscar) was in a tank in his garage and one night an acro prop fell straight through the tank smashing it to bits. The next morning he found it on the floor with a huge gash in its side where it had slid on some glass, he took it the LFS who put it in one of their sump tanks and two weeks later it had healed completely, amazing stuff.
They can get about 24inches BUT more often than not they get around 18inchesmy barbs are 8inches or there abouts, they are hungry fish, always willing to eat if given the chance, these do not grow as fast as Tin Foils......
these barbs are called Hypsibarbus wetmorei AKA Lemon Barb, these is a vid on you-tube of the London Aquarium where they have a 50 cm wetmorei
and some more 13 - 15 inch Lemon Barbs
Aye,
Had a closer look and realised they were slightly diff.> There were some 'Lemon-Fin Barbs' at a Lfs a few months ago, but I don't trust that particular shop (P@H*%e)> so got 'Red-Tail TinFoils' instead from elsewhere.
How big will that new Catfish get??
