Hello everyone,

I have had a pair of bolivians in my 20 gallon for about 5 months now. They are with 2 honey gouramis and 4 otos. There is a terra cotta pot in the tank, acting as a cave for them.

They will not breed! The only reason I can think of is that the tank has had on and off algae problems. Does anyone else have any ideas as to why they aren't breeding?

Thanks,
Trevo

Well firstly do you know for sure that you have a male/female pair?

What pH is your water at?

Try feeding them a mixture of bloodworm, brine shrimp, mosquito larvea etc to get them into breeding condition.

Also do you have any falt surfaces where the eggs can be laid upon?

Algae does not harm fish, and would not affect why your pair of rams haven't bred yet ;)

Turn the temp up to 80 degrees, add a flat rock, give them some frozen food, and do a water change. Those things will usually help make the fish want to spawn :)
