I fell in love with a pair of Large Bolivian rams and bought them saturday. I brought them home and I believe they are defiantly a Male and female or both female. But what is the best way to sex them? Also they seem to be very slow eaters and only want to feed from the bottom is this normal? What do you feed yours?

The female normally has a pink patch under Its belly

No they don't. That may or may not be be true for German Blue rams but not for Bolivians ime.

Nor are the first few rays rays on the dorsal fin neccesarily longer on a male than a female. Nor are long trails on the tail fin neccessarily a sign of a male. Nor is head shape a reliable indicator.

The best way to sex rams is by the shape of the vents on the underside of the body .In the mature male it is small, pointed and angled backwards, in the mature female it is more rounded ,tubelike, angled downwards and becomes more prominent when close to laying eggs.

thats only females of blue rams. bolivian rams are a different fish

Bolivians are bottom feeders or they will take food mid water when it's tempting enough eg bloodworm. they will eat sinking cichlid wafers, algae wafers, live food, frozen live food ,shelled peas etc.In fact they aren't too fussy at all.

well you know what i mean lol. Can't think how else to describe it!
