Got my ram on Friday night. It had a black stripe but no red maks and has since turned copletely white. Thought it might have been stressed from the journey to my home but it's been4 days now. It's in a tank with corries so nothing to scare or attack it yet it spends most of the time hiding in a coconit shell. Is this normal?
PS Water stats OK. Just tested with API kit and got0ammonia, 0nitrite

whats your nitrate and pH?
Nitrite and ammonia zero.Haven't checked pH but it's normally around 7.3 (London water). Still the fish came from someone living 4 miles away (same tap water)who had it for a year. Only differenec is his tank had been neglected as he had to travel a lot (that's why he rehomed his ish)so maybe water quality there wasn't great. My tank has powerful filtration and 33% weekly water change. Little cories, ram;s former tankmates, have settled town OK with no problems in my cory tank wher I placed them along with ram

Whats the water temperature? and are you ensuring its feeding properly?

It sounds very stressed :(

What is the nitrate reading? This is important as high levels are harmful to fish. 33% weekly w/c sounds like it should be 0, but just to check.

He is most probably stressed due to there not being many fish in the tank. They are a shy fish. You say you just have Cories in there? What size tank is it?

It's a very large hexagon tank. Plenty of other fish in there -13 corries (including new ones) and 4 paradise fish(very peaceful, mainly stay in middle to top of tank)Added large anubia plant today, corries love it and ram has come out of coconut and is swimming around it and all over tank bottom too. Ram now has faint vertical stripe on eye and faint black mark on abdomen. Maybe s/he was just settling in and needed more cover to feel safe in a new tank.
How do you sex Bolivian rams?
