Tank size:180L
pH:7.2
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:10
kH:na
gH:na
tank temp:26

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): my male bolivian ram for the last 2 days has been struggling to swim up off the sand so just sits there. when he does it is in kind of jerky movements but never gets more then 10cm up off the sand. his colour has slightly gone but he is still eating fine and not gasping.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 30-40% weekly

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: liquid carbon

Tank inhabitants: 2 angles, rummynose, gouramis, corys, rainbows, 1 agazzi 1 gold balloon and another (smaller female) bolivian ram

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): plants but this was after the problem started

Exposure to chemicals: liquid carbon but not above the recommended dose

any help of suggestions would be great, thanks

It sounds like your ram has shimmy, but this is just an inexperienced opinion. It's usually just an indicator of another condition which could be stress related or bacterial - do some research on the internet to see if anything fits
good luck!

ok thanks.

says something to do with not enough electrolytes in the water but its been the same water for over 6 months so i dont see why it would have changed and all the other fish seem to be fine.

i may add a small amount of salt

any other opinions?

Does the fish look bloated.
its sound bactrial to me.
Does eh fish also tilt to oneside when resting.

Can you isolate the sick fish and use a bacterial med.

no doesnt look bloated
doesnt really lean, i have seen it do it once but i think it was leaning over to get food.

after adding the salt it has picked up slightly, gained more colour and moves a bit more.

i probably can seperate it but only as a last resort because it will be a real pain.

i have some interpet anti internal bacteria and some melafix if they will be any good?

Corys don't tolerate salt to well. Not sure about rams and salt as never kept them.

Add the anti internal bacteria med by interpet to the tank.
