So in the last 24 hours my rams have gone from docile and hanging out together to bitey with each other and standing up for themselves (FINALLY). What gives with the aggression towards each other? They keep gravitating back to each other for more too, it's just silly.

what sex are the rams? could be that they are pairing up. are the fins shredded? what size tank are they in? Could be that they have just established territories and if the tank is too small, they might be fighting over the territories. my rams get along in a 20 gallon, but they are a pair.

I have NO idea about gender. They look identical but maybe I am clueless. They are in a 31 gallon and stick close to the bottom, which makes little sense to me cause I thought they were mid water column. They are usually close to each other and the chasing seems to have calmed down over the last few hours.
What do you mean by shredded fins? If you mean shredded by other fish, no, there are ZERO bite marks.

How many Rams are there?

Does your tank provide alot of hiding places? ie. rock crevices, logs, heavy planting

How big are your Rams?

What are sex of fish? To sex...http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=59127

Other tank mates?

Shredded fins = Fins look like someone took scissors and cut down the spikes of the fins and tore off the flesh between the spikes
