my bolivian ram can not stay straight up. He is however somewaht old, 2 years, which is about their lifespan. past couple week ive noticed that he started to loose his balance. so every once ina while ide through some peas into the tank, but it never seemed he got to them since he is a shy eater.

yesterday, i noticed him upside down sometimes, and other times on his side laying on the gravel. i quickly rushed and put him in a small plastic bag, and fed him half pea which he ate over a couple hours. he was upside down for most of the day, and i was almost sure he was gonna die.

well today i woke up, and hes upright, a little titled, but doing much better. however he doesnt move, and still seems like he is going to die?

i dont know if i should give him more peas or just give him time and see if he turns out better?

any suggestions? im really trying to save this little guy, one of my first fish since i started fish keeping almost 2 years ago.

Where do you have him right now?
I'd leave him be - in a solitary place where he doesn't panick because he's shy.
If he had swim bladder issues because of overeating, the pea will help, and it sounds like it already certainly has.

Depending on what you have him in, you should probalby add some aeration.

I have him just in a plastic bag right now, and im changing some of the water every day. the bag is sitting in the tank, taped to the side. i really don;t have anotehr place to keep him.

today though, hes breathing even harder. I dont know what to do...
