Bit of a strange one but I have 1 male and 2 female Bolivian Rams in my tank. A few days ago what I thought to be my breeding pair starting pecking about and cleaning an tea to spawn, they laid the eggs but I never saw this happen so was unsure as to wether they had been fertilised. Anyway, yesterday I noticed that she must have eaten all the eggs as there was nothing there. During all this the male was sure to stick closely to the female and help her guard the eggs, this was particularly the case with the other female, they would dart from one end of the tank to the other to keep her away.
Anyway, today I have returned homes from work and my other female who for all of this time has been sticking very closely to the side of my tank, almost wedging herself in the corner is now guarding lots of little squiggley fry!!!! There are loads and obviously the is the reason she has been posted there but I have not seen the male pay her any attention other than to shoo her away! So my questions are a) have both females come into breeding mode, laid eggs and obviously he must have only fertilised the one. And if so why is he only sticking to one female? And b) what's my next step!! I don't have a breeding trap at the moment but I can pick one up if needs be. At the moment they are tiny little things that I can barely see but they are very actively moving about in their little clump!
Thanks
