Bogwood

Hi all

I have just bought a large bit of bogwood and was wondering if i need to sterilize it first. I have been soaking it in hot water for the last day or so and not much tannings are comming out. It is too large to fit in a pan to boil. Im not sure if the wood has been in a tank or not i am waiting for the person who sold it me to let me know.
I have some aquarium doctor ZAP which disinfects tanks and ornaments but im not sure about the wood as it is porus.

if its too big to boil then can you put it in a bucket or similar and add boiling water?

if not then just give it a good scrub and clean up and it should be fine....

if it has been used and submerged in water then it may have no tannings left but if its big it will take a while for this to happen!

thanks for the response i just found out it was in a tank untill about 6 weeks ago so i have just scrubbed it and keep pouring boiling water over it that should hopefully kill off any nastys
