If bogwood (or any wood that releases tannins into the water) has been soaked / boiled and no longer discolours the water, does the wood continue to alter water chemistry (i.e. lower the pH)? Not sure if that makes sense, so in a nutshell: If tannins aren't visible in the water, does the wood essentially become intert?
to be honest no matter how long I have soked or boiled wood I still have a problem with tannins in my water, maybe im doing it wrong
But I have never had problems with Ph.
