Bogwood Tannin

I recently put a piece of bogwood into my tank, even though I soaked it over night first to remove the tannin, it has still turned my water a browny colour, will I have to do water changes to get rid of it? or will the carbon in the filter eventually clear it all?

Bogwood ideally needs soaking for a few weeks. Tannings can actually be very good for the fish, i personally don't mind the tanned look although most do, it should eventually clear with water changes

I have a couple of pieces that are still leeching after about 10 months. It's actually very good for alot of fish, including most Tetra's and Plecs/Catfish. It gives a more natural look to the tank and helps slightly with lowering the ph.

Didn't realise it took that long It won't effect plant life in the tank will it?

Nope, i would have thought it would do just the opposite in all honesty, but i can't be sure.
