I wasn't sure where to post this, I was wondering wether anyone can help. I bought a long piece of wood, which is quite light, how do I make this sink as I don't really want to weight it down by putting things on top of it. Do you have any ideas?

If you soak it in a bathtub or something, it will eventually get waterlogged and sink. I think you can boil it too, but not sure on that

P.T.

I normally put a load of gravel in a food bag - knot it and put it on the wood to keep it where you want it.

ok so it may be in the tank a while... but the fish get used to the wood :D

when i first put mine in the tank afterboling and soaking etc I put a few stones in the knooks and crannies to keep it down, next morning I could take them off.

I have a big barrel on one of the down pipes from the roof, it is a useful source of very soft water, and an ideal place to chuck bits of bog/drift wood and forget about for a season, they sink eventually.

you can screw the wood onto a panel of wood and cover the panel of wood with gravel so you can only see the wood
