Bog Wood?

Does anyone know what the white fluffy stuff that could be grown on my bogwood is??
I think it's probably hair algae, you can pull it off, or if you have any plecos, they eat it off, my little pitbull plec makes short work of hair algae on my mopani!

The thread i linked to above will explain everything. It looks like the same thing. :good:

I'm afraid I can't tell from the picture but I believe I experianced a similar problem when I put a piece of Mopani wood in my tank. Is it clear-whitish and slimy to the touch? If so it is probably mould. Spors and bacteria can get trapped in the cracks in the wood while it is sitting in the shop and once in water, the wood will develop mould. It is harmless to fish - my research tells me. I after about 3 weeks mine is beginning to go away. I would recomend removing the wood, scrubbing it verry hard, and boiling it in hot water. You may have to repeat this process a few times as, I have found, it tends to grow back. It should go away in time though. HTH
