I bought this bit of wood for £1.00 from a boot sale thinking it was for an aquarium, does it look ok ? I have been soaking it for a week, and it still floats, it made the water go like tea ?? I tested the water for ammonia after the week and the test was clear, are there any other tests I should do to make sure it is aquarium safe the pic is before I soaked it.

im sure it will be fine.. if the tannins ( the tea look) bother you then you could soak it fr a few weeks or run some carbon in your filter.. i love the tannin look :) , maybe has been used in a lizard setup hence why so dry :/ you could try and weigh it down with fishing wire and weights or fishing wire and rocks

bargain though.. good find!

do u have a dishwasher? is the wife in bed?? if so pop it on a very hot wash with no detergent.. jobs a goodun

Nice piece of wood you got, should be ok if you keep soaking it, hopefully you don't mind the color it can turn your tank into, I like it actually.

I just put it through one hot cycle in the dishwasher and it has lost a conciderable amount of the buoyancy it had, I'm going to do another hot cycle in the dishwasher and soak it again, thanks for all your help!
