Alrigh guys and girls just a random question from me as I'd rather get it from the horses mouth than be blagged into buying from a lfs

I've got to fairly large size ponds near my house that have carp ect in them and they have trees ect big prices of wood that's been in the ponds by looks quite some time

Can I use these broken dead peices of wood from these ponds and if so how do I make them safe to use in my tank obv I will have to do some serious boil washes to kill Amy germs ect.

I stupidly made the mistake of getting rid of my old bog wood to a mate and Im thinking of putting some in my setup to see if I like it with my current decor

You risk introduction of a myriad of very serious complications in doing so.
could boil but you hasten the breakdown of the wood itself creating another problem.
Personally I would never ever do it, But someone may have a treatment that would remove a large % of the risk.
sorry as this isn't particularly helpful but I aim to hold you off till another more practiced in this area can comment.
