i have 2 male BN's that have really started to fight now i know this is a hierachy thing but can they do each other any serious harm?, it all looks rather serious with gravel flying and some head banging. one being 6" the other 4"

I second this question as my L163 Big Spot Peckoltia (4 inches ish) and my L075 Para Plec (7 inches ish) are always fighting with the L163 usually being the instigator ? Can they do each other serious harm ?

Do you have females as if that's the case the fighting may escalate during spawning, some males will set up homes and happily ignore each other but some will be very territorial and beat each other up. How big is your tank?

they both have there own homes so not a terratory thing but i beleive the larger of the 2 is the one to see all the action with the ladies ;) ;)

i take it there is females in the tank and if you want some baby bn's i sugest you move the smaleer male out of the tank as they wont breed just fight i had the same problem a few months back when i found 2 others males that were suposed to be females but were late devolpers of there bristles at one point i had to intervene to sepperate them to stop any further damage to one another soon as i removed them and left the bigger male in i had eggs

ideally you want 2 females to one male i have 5 females and one male bless him

hope this helps

cheers dane

@ dane got no problems on the breeding front got around 70 ish little'uns

@ lilfishie 180litres altho soon to be upgraded due to the amonut of little'uns

you have babies yes cos the more dominant males is winning the battle and gettin to fertilise and raise the fry but it wont stop the smaller male having a good go at beating the bigger male

cheers dane
