Hey all,
Is there any particular difficulty raising blue velvets. On that note would they be fine with corydoras, rasboras and similar shoals?

I only have Red Cherry so I don't know about compatability; but you may not have fry if you put them with other fish...you will probably have fish food, though! At least that's how my experience has been.
I have a separate tank for a colony and put the grown ones in my other tanks; they get outta the way pretty well, I was surprised.

As far as the blue velvets they are gorgeous. Best advice, be an annoying customer, don't be shy be choosy and have them get the best looking ones...

I thought all the common "colored" shrimp are the same things, Neocaridina davidi?

No, I don't think that is correct.
I meant get the best out of the ones that are true, I think there are others. I would make sure.
My LFS also sells "candy" shrimp...all different colours... and I remember them saying something about breeding differences. The candy ones were all different colours. Ask the other shrimp folk on here. There are also some called "Rili" or something that I think come in different colours ss well

I love my RCS. They make me feel like a great success because they are AWESOME!
Of course I really don't have much to do with it....they have become such little scamps I never thought I would like shrimp...I started when I fell in love with an Amano ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

What I meant brforr is the biggest healthiest ones. Don't just let them choose for you.
Yeah, I guess I'm a pain.

hehehe. I'm definitely being picky with my shrimp, gotta get some good genetics

Not all coloured shrimps are Neocaridina davidi but blue velvets are N. davidi. Rilis are as well - they usually come in red, orange and black.
There are coloured species of Caridina as well - tiger shrimps, bee shrimps, crystal shrimps etc.
