Pretty sure someone mentioned to watch out for them, but luckily he wasn't watching out for me when i stuck my fingers under his rock to lift it and catch a Cardinal. He swam right into my net. :D

And yes. I am well aware of the dangers. I'm Australian. We know these things. :)

do you know these things can kill

just kidding

very cool but make sure your lid is uber secure as theres been cases of captive octopuses escaping and wandering around wouldnt wanna step on one

but he is so cool how big is he also is he in your display with your fish (dunno if this would work or hed eat them thats why i ask)

could you on your next trip take a few videos of collecting this all seams so facinating to me as all your threads are

they have to be packaged in about 10 bags for those that do ever keep them as they can kill you several times over

they are so cleaver they work out ways to escape from their tank.

they are really sensitive and hard to keep.

put it back where it belongs before you or it end up in a really bad way

Lid is weighted with no gaps at the moment, but ill be constructing a sturdy frame with hinged and latched lid for a 2 foot tank for him very soon.

He's in his own tank, just a holding tank until i build his proper house. He is about 2 inches long and is very timid but getting better. He has eaten a couple of small crabs.

Oh Steve, its just not worth the risk - put it back in the sea, please, or we will all be forever worried about you, and must admit, I have to agree with Ben, again :p think it should be back in the sea

if i was steve id be inclined to not log on for a few days to freak people out

You really don't have to worry about me. I wear gloves if i need to put a hand in the tank. I do not even open the lid if someone is not in the house with me. I do water changes and feeding without even taking the lid off.

I have experience keeping tarantulas, scorpions and centipedes (all of which can kill me) and some lethal Australian snakes.

I am careful.

He is a truly beautiful little creature

Heh,

What a coincidence, just watched James Bond. Octopussy. on the TV too.

Did everybody see the hilarious bit where it was sucking on that guys face, alien style.

Watch out Steve!

that was me who said watch out for a blue ring octopus  looks very nice :good:

wow!!!

love it

it was always my ambition since a kid to keep an octopus!!

keep us updated :good:

and be careful1!!

hmm, i dislike it when fish are taken from the wild and even live rock with creatures that have been born in the sea in it. So i just think, especially a creature of this intelligence and beauty should be left in its natural habitat where it can go where it wants, eat what it wants and allow it to live the perfect life, rather than taking it and making it live in a 2x2 box!! please put it back.

yeah but at the same time it could of killed someone that same day so maybe steve did a good deed

thats the risk you take when going into a reef surely?? you could say a shark could kill you, would you tank it up?? :p but really id like to see this in the wild or a massive public aquarium tank, just do not think its right that its spent its whole life in a massive ocean to be netted and put in a tiny tank!! like taking you from your house and put in a lift and fed what your given. They should be out there surviving and looking for a mate, the two real things WILD animals do!!
