My blue ram is very unwell. He was bright yellow with a healthy blue sheen, now he is very dark, almost black on top. He is breathing rapidly and cant swim very well, but is upright just under surface (not sucking air).
Having tested my water, all paramaters are well within limits, to be honest theyre all spot on for what a Ram needs. All my other Blue Rams are fine as are the rest of the fish, so i guess its just him. His fins have all gone tatty overnight.

Any ideas??

Iv increased air and turned off light to comfort, but dont know what else to do? Does it sound internal bacterial?

Is there any swelling on the fish.
black patches on the fins and body along with body swelling. This is a bacterial infection called myxobacteriosis.

No swellings or bumps, just a darkening of skin in general, rapid breathing and tatty fins. Its happened quite sudden as i did my check on all the fish last night and noticed nothing amiss.

Thanks

Going dark in colour can be a bacterial infection to parasites.
He dosn't sound good can you issolate him and try a bacterial med.

I do have a spare tank but it may take some time to set up, and rams are very picky about thier water conditions. only option i guess tho. Cheers.

Ok, good luck but he is breathing heavy and not a good sign.

My ram just passed away. I dont lose many fish, and its all the harder it was a lovely blue ram. It just happened overnight.
Tank treated with meds, now he is hitchin a ride on the porcelain expressway.......

I guess theres nothing i could have done, didnt see it coming. He was stunning yesterday.
