I have a mature 280l with good water conditions (ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate <10 ph7.2 temp 26 degrees c) and have had my male Blue Ram for the past 4 months. Up until a week ago he was always the first to appear when food was on the go but now he doesn`t seem to be interested.

All his colour and fins etc haven`t changed in appearance and he is not swimming at the top of the tank looking for air. Was thinking of trying using some garlic to help the situation but not really sure what the procedure is - any specific type or preparation required ?

His tank mates are all friendly species such as cory`s, pearl gourami, rummy nose tetra so its not bullying thats causing the problem.

Thanks.

try giving him different food, sometimes they get bored of it. also add an air stone to get the water more oxygenated.. see if that helps.

usually give them a varied diet of quality flake, bloodworm, tubiflex, daphnia and a few other treats. Also my tank is over filtered so would that help the oxygenation of the tank also ?

Do these fish prefer to be in pairs rather than being on their own ?
