Just got a couple blue ram and i read that they like live food. Does this mean no peas for the blue rams? If so i guess i need to invest in the blood worms. Back to the lfs...

Like most new world cichlids, blue rams are carnivores.

I guess they could eat a pea once a week or so, but mainly frozen foods or new worls cichlid food (they usually sell it as discus food for some reason)

They will eat most frozen / live food including very small fish (fry)

Mine don't like algae tabs, but my male darts for any peas I pitch in the tank. I don't know if he is just a pig or if he really likes them. :p I threw a pea in my 29 gallon community one time and the ram, the molly, and all of the neosn went darting straight for it. The Ram won. :p Now I drop like 3-4 peas in there weekly, then if there are any leftovers I scoop them out.

My ram eats flakes, dried bloodworms, dried shrimp and peas.

as everyone else said, live frozen and freeze dried foods but they will eat flakes as well, but u can't use them as a staple diet

i do use flakes as their main diet....with bloodworm once or twice a week.

My rams seem to be doing great  and have even produced eggs twice. (although they ate their eggs!)

Could their "lack of protein" diet be the reason why the eggs aren't hatching?
