Hi, recently bought some blue neon lights off of ebay for my Trigon 190. They are the type usually used in a PC case. Anyway after setting them all up with wiring them and finding the most suitable place in the tank I switched them on and thjey hardly lit the tank up :( Then after only being on for maybe 20 minutes they seem to have died already :( I've looked forward to getting them setup for weeks and now i've finally had the time to do it its been the biggest let down in terms of my tank. (I had sealed the ends with bathroom sealant to prevent water get into them so its not that thats killed them).

Does anybody have any suggestions where in the UK I can buy decent blue lights suitable for lighting a Trigon 190 and where they can be fitted without modifying any of the hood/existing lights? Current neons were attached with heavy duty velcro to the underside of the hoods.

i have those ebay ones in my 28 litre betta tank and they light it up nicely and have been working perfect, don't think they'd be too good in a large tank though

I have a few blue led's in a little block that I move from tank to tank...........but I am never happy with the result......particularly on the larger tanks.

I think cold-cathode is the way to go with the deeper tanks.........only in my experience though.......

Nope wasn't led's, was cold cathode tubes. They came as a pair but certainly not strong enough for a Trigon 190 :( I need something a lot bigger than those little tubes.

i put my leds under the splash plate where the main light is (as those ebay leds aren't fully waterproof). works a treat in a little tank

It turns out it was the inverter thats died. Changed it as had a spare one from the first set of lights I bought that cracked (I didn't know how fragile they were!) and the lights started working again. Still not bright enough though so may be just need to use more of them.
