Hi I have 3 blue tail male guppies 2 Orange, 2 Orange speckled tail and one yellow tail as one died. All male, but one of the blue tailed guppies has started chasing the two Orange tailed guppies and bullying them. Is this normal?

They are all male apart from one? I think you should have a ratio of 2 or 3 males per 1 female, or the females will get harrased and may end up dead.

Either take the bully out and put him in another tank if you have one, or return him to the store and see how the rest get on?

they are all male guppies, i have 18 fish in total but one blue tailed guppie has started to chase and harrass one of the two orange tailed guppies. the other two blue tailed guppies seem ok at mo. ALL my fish are male.

Ah right, sorry I miss-read was hard to understand.

When I kept Guppies time ago I also had the same problem, I had 12 of them all male and they was all fine for the best part of a week, then the biggest (who happend to be blue also!) started chasing others round and causing a nightmare!

I returned him to the store as soon as I could and everything else got on just fine.

Best thing to do is take him back, possibly get another one in his place if they would let you? Just tell them it's harrasing everything in your tank. If they are good enough they should swap it for you if recently brought :good:

ok, thanks for that. Im now wondering if that is why i lost a yellow tailed one yesterday, as it was particularly small and he may have harassed it too, i liked the idea of having loads of different coloured guppies but perhaps not such a good idea. Just me being girlie i guess.

It's good to have a mix, like you say you want the colour there ;). It's just a shame you had a bully in the pack. Get rid of him and see it it's any better in there.

Possibly the little one could of died from it, my bully killed a few while he was in there :(.

this has happened to me countless times with guppies! there is normally a bully in the pack if they are all male! he WILL harrass the others until they die. i agree with schottay, the best plan is to return him to the shop. however, don't be surprised if a new 'leader of the pack' appears after he has gone! thems the breaks with having all males i'm afraid. one other solution may be to add lots of females to keep them all amused!! this can lead to problems too though as you may end up with millions of fry and it may make the aggression worse if you have a few really attractive females!! also i'm not sure you have the room! my advice, take the aggressive one back to the shop and hope that the others settle well together. good luck...hope you are successful.
