Blue Light Makes Betta Evil

mine is happy allday under white light i put the blue one on at night and he flares up and chases other fish, then when all off he stops

Is your Betta blue by chance?

My Betta is red, and he will go mad at anything thats a similiar colour.

Not really, mine gets hyper and chases his reflection in the tank but I haven't seen him get aggressive because of it x

never seen him bite them(they are too fast he cruises), but still not nice lol

maybe he is just cranky because he should be sleeping and he has a light on him instead.

I think lights should only be on for a max of 8hts a day but I maybe corrected on this?

Bettas react to bright colours it reminds them of other males and makes them aggressive, so anything from a coloured light to an ornament can send the most highly strung ones into a frenzy! because it's a light and comes and goes as another fish may he believes the threat is real

i didnt explain well i was using it as an intermidain light instead of on of i would go blue for 20mins then white to start then at night white blue then off

dwarf neons rainbow and neon tetra so ye this makes sense but they are kind of colourful anyways

When the blue light goes on, are the lights outside the tank off? It could be that he's seeing the reflection because the light in the tank is on and the room light is off, making the glass like a mirror. I don't think the color of the lamp has to do with any of it, just the fact that the light creates a reflection?

When the tank lights go off and my reading lamp is on, my blue betta likes to attack his reflection. It's only when the light casts a reflection on the back of the tank.

And I keep my lights on in the tank from about 7-8 am until sometimes 11:30 at night (but usually more like 10pm). It seems like when I keep the light off more than that my live plants don't thrive.
