Well, I never got to see the true aggressive nature of this fish in action til' I bought one, he would chase smaller and EVEN BIGGER fish than itself, they eventually jumped out of the tank and died, I should give more details about this Gourami right? well he's a 'three spot' but I think that's a synonym to Blue Gourami, it's a male and it's about 5.5 cms I think...I want to have another fish with it, but I've discarded the idea to get another male, since it seems they will kill each other, maybe a female of the same species?

Two options really, take the male back to the store and start again, or you could try putting females in with him. If you are considering females I woul take the necessary precautions.

  • 1. Keep the Ratio as 1:2 this can vary with the female side but not the male.
    2. Before purchasing the females make sure that the tank parameter are absolutly spot on.
    3. Create plenty of tunnels and caves using rocks or piping. If you think the pipes dont look great then I'd suggest hiding them behind rock or covering them in plants.
    4. Makes sure your tank is nice and planted. The more plants the more the line of sight is broken up between the male and the females, that way the aggression will be less.

Good luck.
