I have two blue gourami's and one of them is turning reddish. The other is still a vibrant blue what would cause this?

one is turning reddish pretty much all over. he/she is still blue but no where near as blue as her counterpart. Hmm The closer to the tail that you look the more red she is. so closer to her head she is still blue but not to the same extent as her buddy. She is still blue all over but it's kinda like a red undertone. I don't know how else to explain it. I might be able to take a picture but not until tommorrow. I've never done that before so the picture might be crummy quality. They are at my gf's house. I got them for her as a birthday present but she depends on me to make sure they are healthy. Someone said that they change colors when they are mating could this be what's going on?

I assume you mean a blue three-spot - not a dwarf?

They do sometimes get a rusty sheen but I'd make sure it isn't cepticemia or another water-quality related symptom before completely ignoring it. Wild three-spots actualy aren't a clear blue but a rusty blue-ish color which has been selectively bred to achieve the clean blue so common today - so it isn't unusual for some fish to still show wild color or the remnants of it.
