Blue, gold, platinum, lavender, opaline and cosby gouramies are all exactly the same species - just different colors. The common name that encompasses all these color morphs is 'three-spot gourami' but I think it's a good idea to be familiar with the scientific name, Trichogaster trichopterus, in order to avoid just such misunderstandings. Blue and gold gouramies are the equivalent of blue and red Bettas or red and half-black guppies or labradors and dobermans (the dogs) - so, of course, they can breed with each otherTake care, BTW, as if they do start spawning, the male may become particularly aggressive and is capeable of killing even non-gourami tankmates.
