Hi Gary and :hi: to the forum

I'm not sure, but could you mean a Violet Goby(Gobioides broussonetii), which is sometimes called a dragon goby? There are different species that often get given the same name though - check the info about them half way down this page and do a search on google image - there might be some pics that will help you ID the correct one.

Some basic info - they are brackish water fish (need some salt in their water - about 7.5 teaspoons for every 10g water), are aggressive though not necessarily predatory, need a long tank although it can be fairly shallow (say 120cm length for an adult), and are best kept in a species tank. They can grow quite large in the wild (about 60cm I think, could be wrong) but tend to be smaller in captivity.

If you have any questions, please post them in the brackish section of the forum.

Good luck

PS - just edited to add that I use a plastic measuring spoon for my salt. It is a 15ml spoon, which is roughly equivalent to 15g or 1 tablespoon. I have knight gobies that need 10-15g of salt per litre and I use a 10l bucket for my water changes, so know I need roughly one scoop per bucket.
