Hi,

I would like to have a blue cheek goby in my new 270 litre tank.

I have read that they are only for the specialist marine keepers though and need a deep sand substrate. Is this the case and if so how difficult are they to keep?

Thanks for any advice.

i didnt think they were that difficult.

need a stable tank, so best not goingin first. They also get fairly large

as far as i'm aware they need a reasonable sand bed because they sift through it looking for food and also sometimes bury themselves in it.

hi

the need a sand bed of 2"+ the sand sift by spiting it back through there gill thing (dont know to call it) there not hard to keep they need quite a mature tank about 4 months old so there is food hidden under the sand of them to eat but do also like big bits of krill.

regrds scott

Not hard to keep but can waste over time if enough food isn't in the sand bed, even with additional feeding. Another draw back of and sifters i the xmas snow scene effect....while sifting sand they swim around cattering it over everything , including your prized corals.....I use a peacock goby in my tank, as hardier than blue cheeks and not so prone to wasting away....another little sifter worth looking at is the twinspot, worth keeping for their display bobbing dance alone,lol....
