My two electric blue acaras are both healthy and I believe I have a male and female, over the last two days I have noticed that they will both swim round and then bite and the plants aggressively, this is the first toke I’ve seen them do this is it standard behaviour?

Hello again :) I'm afraid that you have a male and female and they have paired off. If you see if they destroy your plants, you can remove the plants. I see their behaviour as showing their agressiveness and they'll now see if theymake great parents when they'll have wigglers and whether they are strong enough to chase away other fish from their nest, but I think I might be wrong.

Sounds like normal cichlid behavior. That tank is theirs and they will arrange it as they please.

You may have a pair, but this is normal. Plants can be impossible to keep with some cichlids.
