imo you could have a pair in a 36x15x15, 30 gallon tank. If you get a male and female theres a good chance they'll breed. In the two pairs ive kept the males had red/orange edge to their dorsal fin, while the femails have white/yellow.

In the breeding tank id have an inch or two of sand as substrate. Decor would be a few rocks-mabie make a cave for them, couple of plants like java fern would be good.
There not fussy about the water chemistry- just do plenty of water changes and feed them a good variety of food, earthwormes are good. This should induce them to spawn.

id say you want to be looking at a minimum of 55g for a single fish with a couple of tank mates and the same for a pair without tank mates.

Thats overated blue acaras get to around 13 centimetres, you can succesfully keep them with a few fish in a 30 gal.

I wouldnt bother with them atm. They are so poor quality with all the interbreeding of family members it isnt worht the hassle, have a read of PFK this month.

no, they can actually reach 8" so ill stick with my 55g tank.

That is what i found offensive :look: Thats implying that i don't like my fish to have room.An 8' blue acara is definetely uncommon.6 inches is even big..
