Morning all.

Ordered two blue acaras from an online store (couldnt find any locally). Arrived this morning, one was Dead on Arrival, most of his fins eaten off, I assume by the other. The other is not looking good. Acclimatised as best I could into my QT tank. Is now hiding behind the plants and will be left in the dark without food until tomorrow.

The survivor looks the worse for wear, would it be wise do you think to add some melafix or just do 50% water changes daily on the QT tank.

The company in question are going to send two more as replacements, as I explained the situation to them, hopefully both of those will survive the shipping process. Both will obviously go into the QT tank as well when they arrive.

QT is 60L btw.

Hows the fish breathing.
if the breathing fine add some melafix but only half dose if he's stressed.

Maybe you should ask to package seperately....Then do the introduction under supervision in your own tank..

Hi, yeah would have been better to bag seperately in hindsight, you think they would know that.

Anyway, hes looking much better, breathing seems fine, he's out an about, interested in whats going on, hes coloured up too, so Im hopeful he will make it ok.

Took a chance and popped some blood worm in with him, when I was feeding the others and he was on it straight away, so his appetite is good.

Apparently two more should be with me tomorrow, so if they both survive, I could end up with 3! More the merrier I guess. Hope they get along in the QT for a couple of weeks, just added some caves so fingers crossed.

Ok bless him glad he coming around.

The only problem I have with a threesome,.... if 2 of them pairs off, the 3rd one drives me 2 tears..... nobody in this world can be as lonesome as one fish looking in on the happy relationship the other 2 are sharing.....I've seen it before & really makes me feel bad.

Awwww I know, be nice to get a pair, but probably end up with all males knowing my luck :( I can rehome one if it does happen though :)

Your a big softie at heart arent you Ludwig.

Shhhhhhh!!!... not so loud...

Quick update, he's doing very well and thankfully so are the two that arrived yesterday morning. Yes they did bag them seperately thank god. Shame they had no heat pack, no poly box, just wrapped in bubble wrap and plopped in a box - wont be using that site again!! They perked up really quickly and are amazingly nosy, I expected them to be quite shy considering their ordeal, but no, the minute you walk in the room, there they are straight to the front glass, begging for food.

They were almost half the size of the first one, which I was concerned about, as soon as he saw them in the tank, he was after them, nothing serious but a definite 'this is my tank, bog off' kinda thing.

So I added a large plant that covers a lot of the tank (well its only a small QT tank!) that seems to have helped, but all are doing well, eating well and no signs of stress or illness. Just another 4 weeks in this tiny tank to go :(

Glad there all doing well.
Good luck.
