my blue acara was attacked in the night, lost alot of its fins, this happened 3 or 4 days ago, he spend all his time on his side, but when i try to move him his quickly swims away. what can i do to help him recover if possible,

p.s he is now in a separate tank

Add an anti-fungi treatment... Try to make the fish feel as safe as possible ( lots of hide-aways... Plants can also make the fish feel less stressed )... My friend who had a pair of rare Jewel Cichlids experienced the same thing when he discovered that the females entire caudal fin had been ripped off... around 2 months later and it is totally healed and looking better than ever... you would never have thought that it had been injured... Remember to feed alot of high protein foods... such as bloodworm and other similar live foods...

I wouldn't add the med to be honest it's not finrot it's damage, you use melafix.
If alot of the fin is missing and the fish is struggling to swim not good news.
Laying to onside is a worry to.
Was the fish poorly before the attack, as fish will attack a sick fish.

Yeah, that friend was me.

Basically do as Corin Castle said. Try to provide a stress free environment with
little lighting and lots of hideaways. If you see any fungus add some treatment,
otherwise it should recover.
