Hey, iv just bought some frozen bloodworm from my lfs.

Will it be ok to feed to my fry, there about 7 weeks old now.

Idealy i want to get them off microworm, i hate feeding them micro worm. They just seem to stink, and im always feeling sick while i do it haha, weak stomach i know!

Iv got the betta pellets i feed to my betta too, should i crush this maybe?

And how small do i need to crush it, if they will eat it yet. Thank, Craig

You can use a pr of scissors and cut the bloodworms up into little bits, then the babies should be able to eat it. If you give them whole bloodworms they might have problems digesting the head.

Make sure you wash your hands with warm soapy water after handling bloodworms and don't get the stuff in your eyes. Also if you have never handled it before, you should put a bit of it on your wrist or forearm and leave it there for a couple of minutes. Then wash it off and see if your skin goes red. If it goes red you are allergic to the stuff.

A better food to use is raw (either fresh or frozen) prawn/ shrimp and fish. You can buy some raw prawn and keep them in the freezer. Then take one out, defrost it and remove the shell. Then cut it into bite size pieces and offer a few bits at a time.

Keep an eye on your water quality when using frozen foods because bloodworms and prawn will cause the ammonia levels to go up rapidly and this can cause problems in an unfiltered or newly set up tank.
