do the brown colored bloods change color when they are grown or are they always brown at petsmart they have the brown ones but at my other fish store they have the red ones are all the red ones dyed??? they are just a little bit bigger than the ones at petsmart so i dont see how they would have so much time for them to change color?????????

This is a good question
I would say there all dyed but that said i think parrotts are a sub-species and cant be found in the wild so colouring the fish may have been done with many coss breeding programmes.I also was going to buy a couple a few months ago and they were selling them off a £3.50 just after my local fish farm(not lfs)after they got themselves a "no stocking of dyed fish" policy.
So i suspect the very bright ones maybe dyed and the duller ones may be natural but i'm not sure

From what I've heard, they change color almost overnight or very quickly.

This is such a good question. I can't seem to find a straight answer. :/

I have seen some yellow ones that were not dyed.

Any experience I have had with PB's, they have always matured to an orange color. I have seen the ones that are red...they will stay a darker shade of like red/orange. But once I bought a yellow one (as I have had many), and he is the one we kept as a mature adult (and he's HUGE btw)....he is a beautiful BRIGHT orange now. Many people often call him a 'gold fish'.....they have NO clue what kind of fish it is....but that's the best way to describe their color, like an orange gold fish. Not so sure about brown....I would assume they'd be like the yellows. Good luck.....they have funny personalities!

Do the juvie yellow ones ever stay yellow throughout adulthood, or do they all eventually turn bright orange? :dunno:
