Blood On Its Face?

my danio has what i can see developing a red 'blood' face internally he/she is very quiet and was until recently sticking to the bottom of the tank..... then started floating and gently swimming round

i didnt notice its red face before (looks like its bleeding interally) just its face


whats going on the other danio/fish are fine??!!??!??!??

do i pu it in saltwater?

just to add - water etc is perfectly normal!!!!!

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

If the bleeding beneath the skin its septicemia, hard to cure once it has advanced.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

I would get treating fast can you issolate the sick fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank water.
Look under septicemia.

i will isolate the fish now - do i need to put a little salt in its water for 30 mins or so

i will go the pet shop tomorow am to get him/her some treatment

Salt helps with stress but it won't do anything for septicemia.
Septicemia can be caused by dirty tanks, bad water quality, open wounds, build up of fluids, parasites.
You need to get the med fast.
Hope the fish makes it but to be honest it sounds in a bad way.
All you can do for now is make is as comfortable as possible.
You will need an airstone for aeration with the med,

but thers nothing wrong wiht my water and ive only had them since monday!!!!!!!!

my other danio is fine!!! and my plecs! and the other sucker fish?

Could of already been ill at the lfs.

the other one looks a little red round its gills but is acting compltely normal!!

they have to be ill from that fish shop - completely useless.... will not be going back there again.....



ive put it in saltwater then took it out - redness has gone down a little (or is that my eyes hopeing?!)

I would add the bacterial med to the whole tank then just to be on the safe side.
Sounds like you got a bad batch.

hes been in saltwater now - and has picked up

going to let him have another swim init in a bit..... then putting him back in the main tank i think is that wise

Thats why I didn't want to build your hopes up, it can look like there getting better but only to go downhill again.

Water change on your tank and I will still add the bacterial med with another one being inflamed near the gills.
