Please help me again!!!

after changing the water out of drastic measures to clear my tank of meth blue, (from misdiagnosed gill flukes) i have a problem with a tetra, it seems to be very very fat and bloated, it is separated from the group, now that i think about it it has always been separated from the group, just never really took much notice before, due to the other problems in the tank. it stays in the corner constantly now. (could it be pregnant?)

I have only had them a week and am worried that it could pass on a diease to my other fish, they have been stressed out enough with all the problems, should i just take it back or try a treatment of something.

My honey gourami is also swimming at the top of the tank and has been for 5 days, and every time it has enough strengh to swim down it will gradually rise back to the top/surface of the water and it seems to be a little nibble mark on his tail does this have something to do with the lack of swimming or is it just other prombelms?

Has tthe neon lost his red stripe does it look bleach out, any bumps that go to a point on the belly.
For the swelling the only thing to do is a epson salt bath.

HI Wilder, it's not a neon, i think they call it a blue tetra, it has a pale blue stripe and a pink tail, it is very fat and it is swimming slightly lop sided, i was just reading about fish illness, i was worried about dropsy, but i can't see any sticky out scales, one of the other tetras that i got with the group has a missing gill panel, from the same tank at the lfs, they are loners, so am wondering if they had something in their tank at teh lfs.

I have some aquarium salt, shall i give the tetra a salt dip and if so what ratio of salt to aquarium water.

Thank you.

Just wanted to make sure that it was a neon tetra as they can blow up with ntd, can you issolate him.
Need to get going on some epson salt baths to get that swelling down, also shell peas to give him a flush through.
If no epson salt household salt will be fine, will get you some info.

We have API aquarium salt, will that do, when you say shell peas, i hate to sound stupid but what do you mean.

Just use household salt its better, its fine in small doses.
Cook some frozen peas in boiling water for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell because they can't digest the shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.

OK, will do all of this now, shall i then check in the morning, i mean how often do i do a salt bath for the little guy, are all the other fish ok with the peas.

Do a bath tonight and see what he's like in the morning, just carry on with the baths if he's looking bloated say 3 aday.
Yes fish love peas it's a laxative to fish keeps them going to the toilet, best to feed them peas at least once a week in there diet.

Ah, didn't know that, thanks, and i will let you know how he is tomorrow

Thanks Wilder

P.s how many peas, is it per fish?

Ok good luck bless him.

OK, done all this, i may give my german blue ram another salt bath in the morning, she too is a slow at the moment, she has done it before a few weeks ago and 3 salt baths later she was much better. although she isn't bloated but there is tiny bit of poo, and she is not eating.

Another silly question, the peas that they do not eat, should we scoop them out in case they add to the ammonia ratings, don't think they'll go up the filter. or as it is natural it won't make a diference.?

Right to be honest I would add some myxazin to the tank with another one being not right.
If you have no bottom feeders yes remove the peas with a net.

Good morning, i don't have any myxazin, i will get some, but where from, and i have heard is it the medacine that has numbers, i.e myxazin 1 or 2. or am i on the wrong track, , also, i do hve melafix, is it the same ?

they are still with us this morning.

If poss could you help early this morning so i can go and get this stuff.

Many Thanks

OK, i am just going to the lfs, they both myxazin, and interpet 9, i have no experience with these, which would be better to treat the fish quickly, or can i use them together. :/

I will continue to also do salt dips for the very poorly fat tetra.

Any quick answers would be good as i intend to start treating in the next couple of hours.

Ok, did salt baths again, bought some salt as the lfs frowned at me when i said i was going to use my household salt!!

Bought interpet 9 (thye sadi at the lfs that would be better)and have started treating, hopefully this works, my ram has recovered before so am not too worried about him, another tetra is looking fat also so am wondering if it's just tetra thing, meant to look in the tank at the others at the LFS but was in a rush, and forgot. Damn

will keep you updated

Anti internal bacteria med is fine.
Lfs will frown as they won't make a purchase if you use household salt.
Good luck.
Keep us all updated on there progress.
