Request Help - Sick Pearl Gourami
Hey guys - can you possilby help with some advice on this fishy...

Also, we have setup a new 90ga tank that is currently going throught the motions to accept the inhabitants of the older tank. Should we hold off on the transfer till he gets better OR move him as per normal OR move everyone but him till he is better. We expect the new tank to be ready this Sunday.

Tank size: US 15ga
pH: ~7.4 at time of post - lights been on 2hrs after night
ammonia: -
nitrite: -
nitrate: -
kH: -
gH: -
tank temp: 28 °C --> 82 °F

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
Pearl gourami, V bloated belly,
Tail fin looks a bit withdrawn (would liken it to a dog with its tail down)
Comes up for gulp of air 1 every 30-60 sec - no irregular breathing otherwise
Hides in the corner a little, under the heater
NB: apart from the belly and tail, the behaviour is not out of the ordinary for this fish

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
Usually 2-5 ga every 3-4 wks

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
None

Tank inhabitants:
1 Angelfish 10-15cm head to tail
4 neon tetras (blue striped ones)
2 more tetras (with the orange/red stripe)
1 phantom tetra
1 pleco
1 sick pearl gourami

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):
Added a limewood diffuser - running 2 wks now – took it out yesterday in favour of a simple airstone

Added 3 new plants from the LFS - 2 still healthy, 1 almost dead (2wks)

Exposure to chemicals:
Recently treated for string algae using Pondcare Algaefix.
Actives: POLY[OXYETHYLENE(DIMETHYLIMINIO)ETHYLENE(DIMETHYLIMINIO)Ethylene DICHLORIDE] – 45g/L

Used 1ml every 3 days for 2 wks, then vacuumed out the dead algae

Feeding Notes:
Fish were on a diet of frozen bloodworms and sera vipagran. Each meal I would alternate between the 2 – never more than 2 feeds in a day.

When I ran out of bloodworms, I changed to vipagran twice daily. Their appetite diminished over 3-4 wks. I went and bought some of their favourite – frozen brine shrimp – and went back to alternating meals. The shrimp would get eaten within a couple hours, but not as quickly as they used to.

Went into the LFS for some new food – got some Sera flora flake. Took the fish a couple days to get used to it, but now they are eating it. Have been on flake now for 2wks.

Right get the shelled peas out, bad diet, plus it sounds bacterial with the tail and heavy breathing, you will need a bacterial med.
The fish needs more frozen foods and veg in there diet.
