Just picked up 6 Neon Tetra's today, and one of them has a large swelling on the underside. The fish also appears to be a bit bent, along it's back. Otherwise it seems alright - eyes and scales look alright, doesn't seem particularly lethargic or anything. Haven't fed them yet today, so don't know it's eating habits.

Any idea what's wrong? Anything to worry about, or just carrying eggs? Tried to take photos, but haven't managed it yet. Can have another go if it would help.

Its hard to tell without a picture, large swelling as in how large?? Anything looks large compared to a neon lol. If its behaviour looks the same as the others it may just be that it overate!! You'll notice when you feed them how much their bellies swell.

Like a bulbous lump that puts it tail at an angle on its underside. It looks like he's eaten a large pea (though he hasnt). Some of our tetras look a little chubby but are still in proportion without bent tails.

Trying to get a picture but he always turns the wrong way.

Mine are the same when they are fed. They should be okay if you leave them with no food for a day or two and feed them only small amounts

Its only the one tetra. And its huge. We're getting a picture now. There was a thread on "dropsy" and the swelling looked the same as ours but as far as we can see its eyes are ok and so are its fins.
