If this had been a female, I would've said that she is eggbound, but it happens to be a male.... and it has been in this condition in excess of a year.... (it is not dropsy)

He lives a normal live and shows no signs of stress...... but to me, it looks uncomfortable.... what is his problem and is there anything I can do for him??

In all honesty, if it's been over a year.
I'm going to say tumour.

Very little can be done except euthanisation.
Trouble is, if he's eating well and generally in all over good health, can you say without any doubt, that he's actually suffering?

Tough choice.
I personally, would let him live, if he's showing no stressors what so ever, there's no real way that he just doesn't feel a bit fat.

Oh dear, poor fish. Like has been said if he seems happy enough and eating I would let him live.

I would agree some sort of tumour, I have a krib with one on her head, second krib thats gone this way for me. Not alot you can do really, just if the fish starts showing signs of distress it would be best to euthanise it, but if its feeding and swimming around ok leave him be.

Agreed. Very likely a benign tumour of some sort, as the fish has been living relatively happily with it for some time.
So long as he is not distressed there's no reason to do anything in particular.

You will know when the time comes, to euthanase.
