Hello folks, long time reader but first time poster.

My fighter has always had a funny shape to him, with a fat belly area. However, over the last few weeks his belly is getting more and more bloated and I'm wondering if any of you have seen this before?

I'm not overfeeding him and he doesn't appear to be suffering any ill effects (still swims freely, pretty active etc.) but it's worrying nonetheless.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers. :good:

hello.....are his scales slightly ragged looking...as in pineconeing? Is he going to the loo? try giving him a cooked squashed pea and not feeding him for a day or two :good:

No Liz, apart from his big belly he seems to be in perfect health. Swimming in and out of plants, eating and emptying the cargo bay at regular intervals. He's pretty old so it might just be one of those things?

could be old age...my oaps just laze about a lot more than the others. they are in shallow containers with little ornaments that look like tables so they can sit on them....although one sits underneath....mine usually go really thin when they are old but I am not an expert :good:

It might just be, but I would still try the pea. You can either mush it up for him or cut it in little pellet sized pieces. My little guy likes his cut up
