Hey Wilder.

Last week i got shut of my discus and bought the fish i truely love, 2 2" baby oscars. I lowered the temperature in my discus tank to 27 deg c and they have been in the tank 3 days so far. Both have been feeding VERY well on prima (buying doromin next week) up until last nights feed.

I noticed one of the lil guys doing the usual oscar thing of laying down and chilling out, however when he did come to the front of the tank he bumped into the glass over and over and everything else, even the sand at the bottom of the tank. Food was right next to his nose but he wouldnt eat, his pal was eating as usual.

Tried feeding again this morning, still no feeding and food was even hitting him on the head but he wouldnt eat it. Anyway left it again till this evening, fed once more, his mate, no problem chomping away on the food and such to his hearts content but this guy will just not eat. Continuing to bump into things. Anyway i thought id test to see if something has happened to his sight, i got my net and gingerly brought it up behind him, ready for him to get spooked and run off... but he didnt, he even turned and went into the net..

So i was like weird, released him and waited for him to come back to the front, again, netted him without any stress and its like he cant see me coming, i put my finger right next to him in the net and he didnt move till i actually touched him.

This must have happened over the last day as he was eating fine with his buddy up until yesterday.

is there such a thing as temporary blindness as ive never seen it and what can i do to treat it?

Any help much appreciated, id really like not to lose this little guy

I have never heard of it in fish but I had a dog go from normal to totally blind a few years ago. She never came out of it but lived a good many years totally blind. In a dog it goes by the acronym of SARD, sudden adult retinal disorder.

Woke up this morning for the morning feed and drop the prima in, the non feeding blind guy could suddenly see and was eating like a champ.

Stringy white poo however so i think an internal bacteria treatment is required. Would you guys agree? these are baby oscars and want to start them off right
