i recently posted a reply to bronzecats thread on does temp and ph alter spawn sexes, or something like that, i a said that i was spawning at room temp which is 6 degrees lower than what i would normally spawn at to see what i get, well after 3 days they had conditioned and let her out, they spawned and usually i get about 20-39 eggs per HM spawn and then i notced that he had a few fry this morning and thought oh ok a few little fry from this pair, wow thats nice but i went away for 20 mins and came back to this, i could only see 20 or so eggs, i think my new glasses are not strong enough  was wondering that maybe the temp difference had helpped with the yield of fry, im now bricking it ofcourse b/c there are loads.

Ohh wow there is loads of babies. Congrats Daz!!!! Hope I have successful spawn as yours.

awwwww daz, you have your work cut out for you
hmmm yup just a bit :hyper: luck for me

thanks nat, ive never had a such a large amount from a hm line before though and also this is the only spawn ive vertually ignored as it was only an experiement to see what i got sex wise, this tank is placed 8 foot high away from anyone so this must have something to do with it as well.

Good tips thank you. :good: :good: Do HM usually have little eggs??? Only thing I ever spawned is VTs and I had a hundreds of eggs. Unfortunately only 4 babies survived :( :( Your experiment turned out to be very successful   Wish you luck with them :good: :good: Ohhh and who are the parents???

oh and temp is 24 still and the ph is 8.0

Silly me, I`ve seen that post yesterday  They are lovely, you will have beautiful babies from them two

I told you to be careful what you wished for    Loads of luck with them ALL. Can't wait to see how they grow and what they turn into :good: :good:

Think well try the lower temp too next time!!!

the only problem i have now is keeping the temp level, im not to sure how cool the shop gets at night, so im gunna have to add a heater set at 24 to keep it level i think. or do i just leave it b/c it is an experiement and see what the future brings me, but i dont like to see fry die, im torn between what to do now. would you add a heater or just let things be and see what happens?

Difficult to say on that one Daz....it would be such a shame to lose them all. Temp isn't too bad at night now so they might be ok. Think personally though I would rest easier if I put a heater in so there aren't too many fluctuations in temp :good:

Goes off to turn temp down in Taro's spawning tank

Ooooheeerrr look at all them there fry, seems like the cooler temp worked out pretty well. There is no harm in setting a heater in there, so i would say go for it at least you know you have a steady temp, but that said there is no heaters in the rice paddies lol

It'll be really interesting to see how these guys turn out

well ive decided to open the door to the outgrow room as it is heated, and so damn hot in there, the heat will circulate around the room and hopefully keep it steady, if in the morning the temp is below the 24 i will add a heater and go from there.

Dusky youve got a nice big house    get some shelving up as youve got baby bettas to water change daily very soon. :hey: pretty please
