hello all
I'm torn between getting/breeding
black chin livebearers Girardinus metallicus & Endlers livebearers Poecilia wingei.
please vote which you'd go for
and, if you like, please say why.

Blackchin.

A) They aren't as common.
B ) You'd help the species. Everyone is breeding Endlers right now.
C) They're cute. :p

iv voted for endlers but that other smart fish is rather radishing.
how much was it
is it quite rare
were did you get it from
thanks

How about both? I really can't decide I like endlers but that black chin looks really cool. I would go with the black chin if I couldn't have both tho.

they retail at £5 a pair
I got them from work, so I only paid trade :p
they are not rare as such but it took our
wholesalers 8 weeks to source some stock.

I'm afraid that our American friends may have much
trouble getting any as they hail from Cuba

The black chins are on the stocking lists of Wholesale Tropicals (London), Fishy Friends Aquatics (Essex) and Trimar (Cornwall) atm; from Trimar you can order online. The yellow form is on the stocking list of Wildwoods (Enfield)

Both are fairly easy to find, even for us Americans. There are pretty large populations of both endlers and the Blackchins even with the ban on imports to the US from Cuba.

I personally would try to find a good population of Blackchins. The endlers are a very pretty fish but are starting to oversaturate the fish market. They are every where and are starting to become too common. The Girardinus metallicus are still less common and would be more interesting to observe. There has been a good amount of research done on endlers but not a whole lot done on G. metallicus. To breed and observe the social interaction of G. metallicus would be a bigger contribution.

Oh those blackchins are adorable!

I've never seen blackchins in my LFS's, and Endlers are a rare find too where I live. I'd love to have some of both if I had the option! They're both lovely
