Black Widow Tetra With Angel Fish?

Hi all.
I've just upgraded to a 180l tank and am looking for a schooling fish to go in with my 3 angels.
I'd have loved tiger barbs or black ruby barbs but they'll be too fin nippy so I've been looking for something else that I could have and like the look of the black widow tetra (or is it black skirt tetra. Think they're the same but not 100%). Does anyone know if they'd be ok with angels.
I also have;
2 kribs
2 rams
2 bn plecs
5 cherry barbs
4 platys
1 pepper corry
1 yamato shrimp
3 khuli loach.
I'm going to get a few more cory's and khuli's so that they'll be happier too.
Any info gratefully recieved.

hi i have some black widow tetras in with dwarf gourami and i havent had and problems with nipping or even seen them try to nip any other fish so you should be fine

any smaller fish that is not torpedo shaped like a neon will be fine with angels. it does depend on the temperament of the angel though and if they have been raise with smaller fish seems to help.
to answer your question.... yes they will be fine

Hi. Well black widows and angels didn't work for me. I've two lovely large angels and got 6 black widows and, whilst they don't have a particularly bad reputation like Serpae tetras, they were harrassing the angels and nipping them from day one. Now I have 5 Pristella tetras and 5 red-eye tetras, both nice fish, and they're fine and no trouble between any of them. I added the 10 when the angels were big and they chased them round a bit at first but couldn't catch them and then luckily decided they weren't food after all!!

Not sure what to do now. Lol.
Normally I'm not a lover of tetra's really but the black widows are a lovely fish and are fairly similar to the tiger and black ruby barbs.
I was hoping that they'd be peaceful enough to go with the angels, unlike the other fishes I wanted, especially if they were in a reasonable shoal.
Has anyone got any advice or maybe suggestions?

You could try them and if it didn't work out you'd have to take them back. My experience may have been a one-off.

I might. I don't want to put my angels through the stress if I can avoid it though.
I may have to keep looking unless someone has had a good experience.
Does anyone know of a fish that has the full body of the black widows, black rubies and tigers that would definately be ok with angels?

so far in my experience with the black widows they are quite peacefull and dont seem to bother any of my other fish they just shoal round the tank occasionally chasing each other which is really good to watch as there so fast

Think it must all come down to the individual fish then.
Got to decide, if I get them, if I get a few at first to see how they do or get 8 or 10 straight off in the hopes that they'll be more interested in each other than in the angels.

there less likely to harras other fish if you get 6 or more so they shoal

I'd definately be looking at the 8-10 range then. Thats not a problem at all.
Think I'm gonna have to go look in my lfs and watch them for a while.

Was thinking of adding at most 6-8 now and seeing how they go. Would prefer to add just 4 at a time really but was thinking that 6-8 would mean that they'd be more interested in each other than in the angels, unless they would be ok for a week, followed by another 2 or 4 next week?
Like I say, I don't want to stress my angels, but I also don't want to lose any fish either.

just add 4 then wait a week for your bacteria to catch up with your bioload do your water tests then add another 4
but to be honest arent you going to be overstocked if you add more fish looking at the stocking you have already
