Black Water Extract

Anyone use Kent Black Water Extract or equal? Does this actually accomplish anything?

I use Sera Morena (blackwater extract)
in conjunction with peat in the filter.
this has the effect of adding humic acids (amoungst other goodies) to the water thus lowering the pH.
my blackwater tank runs at 6.2-6.4 pH

most of the fish in my blackwater tank come from the amazon/rio negro basin and therfore prefer a lower pH.

I've used it in amazon setups with plants for breeding, and my plants and fish did well.
It works well with low light plants, as it dose block a certain amount light, its just a case of whether or not you can stand the tea stained water.

Actually the Kent product is called Balck Water Expert not Extract. I have been using it for years in one tank only- filled with plecos. It does not have any effect on pH unlike many other BW products. I use it mainly to stain the water to cut down on light.
