"black Velvet Angel" Are They Supposed To Be Velvet Textured

i bought a black angel from the LFS over the weekend who`d been beaten up and had a slight case of ich (not the LFS`s fault he`d been brought in by some one)
the ich has gone and his tatterd fins are opening up.... hes acting and looking mych better than when i first got him...

HOWEVER i`ve been told hes a black velvet angel, and he dosent seeom to have scales as such, he looks... velvity.

Is this another disease or is he supposed to look like that?

So do "velvet" angels exist then?

as i wasnt sure, and i do know the disease "velvit" but dont know the symptoms

Yes they do exist, and ive never seen one until now.

Sorry i know its a stupid question but its my first tank and i`ve only had the fish a few days and i`m paranoid..

Know nothing on angels, but his tummy area dosn't look right to me. can you blow the pic up.

if your refering to the light coloured patch its because of the flash,

other than a few scars he is a very matt black with a nice velvet finish...

i`ve been staring at him since i came home, since i got him he prety much just hid in the cave but today hes out and about and has opened up his fins alot more (even though they are really tattered)

no sign of ich any more, and hes eating so it`sd probably just me being paranoid, thank for the help every one

Can you issolate the fish, whitespot can cause finrot and you will need a bacterial med.

i can`t isolate him no, the ich has cleared up, no other fish are showing any signs of it at all, and as his fins were already tatterd when i got him, aswell as my veil tail koi angels fins, i added some mela fix to help them recover.

I`ve kept an eye on all the fish (its my first tank that i stocked on friday so obviously i`ve been stareing at it constantly) and no one is showing any signs of any illness at all,

all the water perams are perfect so life is good...

You mean that you put 14 fish in the tank all at once on friday?? That's not good. I'm hoping that I'm just reading this incorrectly?
