Well, after selling 16 juvie orange Swordies I went and bought three black Swordies after the advice of Polardbear :p I got me a nice male with orange fins and two females, both have white bellys and one has an orange stripe from just behind the head that goes to the beginning of the back fin. The male was already trying to mate with one or more of the three orange females. He is getting first shot at the girls since my orange male is not fully matured yet and has not had a chance to go after his sisters :S

I saw that post of pollardbear re black swordtails.I was over at the lfs today and was looking at his swordtails. All his black ones had either nice clear or orange fins.Would have loved to buy a couple but I really have got enough swordtails so I managed to resist.Good luck with your breeding and I hope you get a good mix of colours :D

I still have not figured out how to post a pic on a post but, I did manage to post one in the pictures forum. That was a while back and do not remember how I did it. I do remember that it took a lot of time to get the sizing right and I am not very good with computers :*) I had to work for an hour to get one on my avitar!!

:-( Well my happiness was a bit short lived. The new black male died after less then 18 hours in his new home. No signs of sickness, no injuries, no clue! He seemed happy and was even chasing the girls before lights out. I found him this morning belly up :rip: I guess that I will have to wait a while before I try to get a new male. I am going to have to keep an eye on the tank and maybe do more extensive water testing. I had done a 40% change on Wednesday after Fiskis II died so the water should be fine :dunno: Might have been stress but I do not think so since he did not seem to be hiding or clamping and he ate with the others.

I first saw them two weeks ago and the females are doing fine. I am going to stop by the store and get my water tested and tell them what happened. Who knows, maybe I can get a replacement.
